18th Buenos Aires Antiquarian Book Fair

The 18th Buenos Aires Antiquarian Book Fair, dedicated to Argentine women writers, will take place. The event includes exhibitions, round tables, and workshops at the Liberty Palace from October 31 to November 2. Admission is free.

Institutions and publishers such as the National Archive, the Library of the Argentine Academy of Letters, CeDInCI, Ampersand Editions, Dos Amigos Editions, and the Argentine Library for the Blind will participate. “The spirit of this Fair is to keep the love for the book and printed heritage alive,” expressed Roberto Vega, president of ALADA. “We are excited to see how each year this space renews the passion for conserving and enjoying the works that narrate our cultural history”. In addition to the “Argentine Women Writers” exhibition, the main activities will be held in the Honor Hall of the Liberty Palace: Activities Program: Friday, October 31 – 5:30 PM Round table “Culture, Heritage and Collecting” Participants: Emilio Perina, Juan Javier Negri, Juan Solá, and Pablo Gasipi. Moderator: Gisela Paggi. Organized by the Argentine Association of Antiquarian Booksellers (ALADA), the event also celebrates the 25th anniversary of the entity's re-foundation and consolidates itself as one of the main sector meetings in the region. This year, the Fair will have the Argentine woman writer as its central theme, with activities that seek to highlight her contribution to national literature. The 18th Buenos Aires Antiquarian Book Fair will take place from this Wednesday to Sunday, November 2, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Dry Plaza of the Cultural Center Liberty Palace (Sarmiento 151, CABA), with free admission. Saturday, November 1 – 5:30 PM Round table “Women writers in Argentina” Participants: Florencia Abatte, María Gabriela Mizraje, Adriana Rodríguez de Pereda, and Matilde Sánchez. There will be two round tables, a photographic exhibition dedicated to the country's authors, and a Workshop Space where bookbinders, printers, and illustrators will share their crafts with the public. At its 28 stands, visitors will be able to find specimens ranging from the 15th century to the avant-gardes of the 20th century: old books, rare or illustrated editions, artistic bindings, engravings, maps, photographs, and historical posters.
